How has the Coronavirus Pandemic affected a generation of creative writers and the playwrights of our culture?

How will it continue to affect storytelling and drama in the shared reality of our culture for the ages to come?

In this conversation between Pulitzer Prize finalist in drama and Doris Duke Award winner, Kristina Wong and bestselling non-fiction author Rebecca Solnit, the writers discussed their insights on how Covid-19 reshaped storytelling as we know it.

This event is a part of a project developed by SF Creative Writing Institute to examine how the Coronavirus Pandemic and its surrounding cultural turbulence have affected creative writing. 

The Dispatches from Quarantine project is presented by the San Francisco Creative Writing Institute with support from the California Arts Council. The program began as a blog and has expanded to include a reading series, public discussions, and writing workshops with working writers from diverse genres and backgrounds. The project has been running from March 2020 and is scheduled to finish our hybrid readings and discussion by Summer 2023. SF Creative Writing Institute is a sponsored program of CounterPulse.

We invite you to submit a dispatch with the suggested theme, “What is your Covid story? How will you tell it?” All genres will be considered for publication on the blog. Submissions can be sent via email to: submissions@dispatchesfromquarantine.co.
